I was lucky enough to work with Hillary and Ian twice – once for their amazing Fort Tryon Park Engagement shoot, and again for their stunning summer wedding! If there’s one place in the Hudson Valley that always draws city folks, its Beacon. The Roundhouse is such an ideal spot for a Hudson Valley wedding. It’s right off the train, and the town is a perfect blend of rustic and industrial.
This adventurous duo sprinkled a little of their personal magic over every part of their day. They’re world travelers, so I couldn’t resist photographing their wedding bands on the antique compass the bride gave the groom. Seeing all the love between Hillary and her sisters while they got ready was so sweet. And hey, check out Hillary’s guns!
The train tracks in Beacon are one of my all-time favorite spots for a first look and couple portraits. Ian’s emotional first glance at his wife-to-be had us all worked up, but we can’t blame him – Hillary looked stunning in her vintage-inspired, beaded gown.
When it came to details, these guys hit it out of the park. Paper crane escort cards? A quilted chuppah and a patchwork tallit? Love it! The bride and groom had planned to get married on the grounds, but moved inside to give their guests a break from the heat. No one minded, of course, because it was still so gorgeous. Especially the recessional, where the guests showered the couple with bubbles!
The space at the Roundhouse has such an awesome industrial-chic vibe. I loved the Hillary and Ian’s reception entrance at the top of the stairs. These two were the life of their party. They had the whole wedding yelling Huzzah! during their thank you toast! And Ian’s swinging mother-son dance was a riot. It was a perfect place for a perfect crowd.
I couldn’t be more excited about the adventures these two will have together. Photographing their wedding day was a joy and I can’t wait to get back to Beacon again. Cheers to Hillary and Ian!
