Arrow Park might be the best-kept secret in the Hudson Valley. From the ivy-covered mansion to the lakeside beach to the winding paths through the woods, it’s a picture-perfect setting for an upstate wedding. For my first Arrow Park wedding, I got to spend the day with Alissa and Justin as they tied the know on a perfect October day in peak foliage season.
Alissa paired her white gown with a gorgeous floral hairpiece and some lace-up flats, so we were ready to go for a stroll through the autumn woods. After the first look with Justin, we meandered through the trees to the lakeside beach and boathouse. Those waterfront photos are my favorites of the day; I love how at home these two seem at home among the mountains and trees.
In true Hudson Valley fashion, they tied the knot outside, surrounded by their loved ones in a ceremony officiated by the bride’s brother. After a couple more golden hour portraits, they joined their guests in the manor for a cocktail hour complete with locally-sourced catering and perfect views of the sunset over the lake. Then it was down to the event hall on the grounds, which looked like something straight from Dirty Dancing. Twinkle lights and autumnal florals completed the space as the bride and groom danced, laughed and cried through speeches, and later dined on some seriously delicious desserts. Did I mention their first dance? It was to a song played on guitar by one of the groomsmen. Perfection.
