One of the most amazing things about NYC is that even if you’ve lived here most of your life there are always places that you’ve never been to or never even heard about. That was true for me when Allyson and Joe suggested taking photos at Socrates Sculpture Park and the surrounding area in Long Island City. The park is on a beautiful stretch of the river and at one time was a landfill, but now provides space for artists to make large-scale sculptures. And just a few minutes away are three or four blocks of the most spectacular street art I’ve ever seen. Besides seeing these cool new places, I had such a great time with Allyson and Joe – can’t wait to photograph their wedding in the spring!
