Tanya and Elle got to head into the mountains last fall to photograph Hanying and Stan’s Onteora Mountain House wedding. The beginning of October was a perfect time for a Catskill wedding celebration; the leaves were just beginning to turn and the day was warm with a cool breeze. After their Central Park engagement session, I knew Tanya and Elle were going to have so much fun with these two.
Hanying is as smiley as they come, and she and Stan have the easiest chemistry together. Whether they were posing in front of the mountain views or strolling through the fall colors, their connection is just so clear even in pictures. Before they tied the knot, they had a traditional Chinese tea ceremony with their parents and relatives. They made their vows official beneath the pines on a balcony cut into the mountainside with a sweeping view of the Catskills. After, they hung out with their guests and sipped cocktails on the patio while the sun set on their dreamy autumn day.
One of my favorite things about the Onteora Mountain house is their reception pavilion, with its rustic timber constriction and round paper lanterns. These two embraced their autumn date with splendid orange and red florals and it looked amazing. And if you can’t tell, Hanying and Stan had a blast at their party. From breaking it down back-to-back on the dancefloor, to covering each other in cake, it was all laughs and smiles. Plus, Hanying even had an outfit change, swapping her lacey white gown for a bright red dress as a nod to her Chinese heritage. They closed their day with s’mores by the fire pit and of course, a sparkler-lit kiss! It’s one of my and Tanya’s favorite moments from the day. We wish these two so much happiness!
